Good morning, everyone... I submit there has to be a safe middle-ground in the dialogues about the federalized troops forcibly evicting people from their homes in the Deep South.
On one hand, if a house is completely surrounded by water, and human life can no longer be termed self-sustaining, ie., having independent sources of food and water, despite everything that I may have once believed, I suppose troops and/or police probably *should* evict the residents for their own self-protection. If the residents of such houses get sick from contaminated water or food sources, who ultimately will pay the bill? On the other hand, what I have heard (although possibly grossly exaggerated by the nefarious news media) there is a plan on the part of police and/or national guard, to forcibly remove *everyone* from their homes, regardless of whether or not they have food and water to sustain their lives. I submit this is WRONG, DAMNED WRONG. What would you or I do if, under the guise of an emergency, police and/or guardsmen showed up at our houses ordering us to leave without GOOD probable cause? Speaking strictly for myself and all I possess, there would most certainly be a gunfight, and I probably would perish in the process. Rather, we should ask the question another way: if a house has not been destroyed, and is functional, right down to having a good food and water supply, what probable cause is there for a mandatory eviction? The one good use I have seen of the national news media is that it is bringing the harsh realities of this stand-off scenario to our homes and businesses, and thus forcing us to confront this very issue in our lives. I, for one, am not the least bit comfortable with the idea that anyone can evict residents from their homes if they have food and water supplies, and pose no threat to themselves in any way. Doing so, I believe, is TYRANNY. I believe that word is specifically mentioned as one of the reasons our country was founded. FEMA and the City of New Orleans need to get their priorities straight, as usual, but that is purely my opinion. Your thoughts may differ...
