            Bug ID: 172720
Summary: Re-assigning key is impractical and does not work
                    (e.g. for comments)
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.2.4.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Hello,

On my computer Ctrl-Alt-C is already taken, so I'm trying to re-assign the key
for inserting a comment in Writer (LibreOffice 26.2.4.2
0229ac93fcf0d7cbc6376066c6f35021cef002dc ).

I'm following the tutorial here:
https://documentation.libreoffice.org/assets/Uploads/Documentation/en/GS5.1/HTML/GS5114-CustomizingLibreOffice.html

Problems:

1. The interface to assign a key is PitA, It takes ages to walk through all the
key combinations to reach the one you want to assign. Why not take inspiration
from the modern Linux DE/WM, where you can just type the key combination?

2. I tried to assign Ctrl-/ to "Comment" but:
   (i) It does not work.
(ii) There are many functions called with the same name "Comment"... which
one is the correct one? I tested several ones. None worked.
(iii) The key "Ctrl-Alt-C" (for the whole libreoffice) seems to be attached
to the 1rst "Comment" function, but it does not work when I assign this
function to Ctrl-/. There are many "Delete xxx comments" functions, but no
"Insert comment"... What a mess...
