Today, LO started up a bit slowly again the first time, and so did the Tools menu - unlike yesterday, when the initial startup was fast. But then, with every subsequent restart, LO is fast again. Because the processes disappear from Task Manager after closing LO, there’s only one remaining explanation for me besides internal LO issues. The various Windows cache behaviors, which of course change with every Windows version, hence the different behavior in the Windows VM running 25H2 I tested alternatively. After enabling Quickstart once and then disabling it in my host with 23H2, Windows apparently remembered something. I no longer have any other explanation for the strange behavior regarding LO’s startup speed and, specifically, the Tools menu on my computer. Over time, Windows learns which programs are used frequently and responds accordingly — perhaps in a somewhat cryptic way. Right now, I’m completely satisfied with LO’s speed — I don’t need it to be any faster. However, when I first started testing extensions that required LO to restart every time, or when a restart was necessary for other reasons, it was a real hassle how slowly the Tools menu and its submenus would load.
