Description:
When one clicks "Use Wizard to Create Form..." in the task panel, and there is
no Java installed or Java is deactivated, the error message does not help the
user to recover from the error and solve the problem.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Don't have Java installed or deactivate it in Tools/Options...
2. Open LO Base
3. Click on "Use Wizard to Create Form..."
Actual Results:
- On Windows, with option-deactivated Java, I get a "The connection to the data
source "New Database" could not be established." This is correct, but does not
help the user to find out that Java is missing.
- On Debian 13 using .debs from TDF, there seems to be an error message that
"JRE is defective", but the application also crashes.
- On Mac without Java, the Form Wizard just does not start, no error message
(see tdf#146764 , tdf#151250)
Expected Results:
If no working Java is found, the error message should tell the user and offer
help to solve the problem (see #9 on
https://www.nngroup.com/articles/ten-usability-heuristics/ ), for example:
"Form Wizard needs a working Java installation, but none was found. Activate
Java in Tools/Options... Libreoffice/Advanced. If this is not possible, you
need to install Java or repair your existing Java installation"
The program should not crash, but, after confirming the error, return to the
previous state.
