Try including one more character after the auto-numbering.
I use Figure 1: as the auto-numbering schema.
when I bookmark Figure 1 (without the : ) It does ot work.
But when I use "Figure 1:" as the text to bookmark.
The cross-reference initially includes the : which is ugly. But upon saving and
reopening the : goes away and all is well.
I can upload a docx example if needed.
