--- Comment #20 from Heiko Tietze <[email protected]> --- (In reply to BDF from comment #17) > I want to assign a new shortcut to the "Bold" function and wasn't able to do > so because it was unclear to me what the function behind the label does and > what would really happen when I press the shortcut. If you don't know what Bold does you need to learn everything from scratch. > The footnote is maybe a better example... Label: Footnote Command: .uno:InsertFootnote Tooltip: Insert Footnote Not sure why we use a short form as label in this case and not something like Label: Insert Footnote ContextLabel: Footnote Basically the idea is to have some meaningful name and something shorter for the menu Insert > Footnote. This needs to be fixed for each command individually. > "Insert Special Footnote/Endnote" (4) would also be a good example. You may > not know what's so special about a "special footnote", but you know that if > you bind this function to key "X" you will insert one of them. Neither you know from Insert > Footnote and Endnote > Insert Special Footnote/Endnote... The envisioned explanation aka extended tip for commands might tell you something like "Shows a dialog to pick a different character for numbering" but it is a lot of effort and I doubt beginners with no clue about Bold or Footnotes would customize the UI.
