The new main battery arrived this afternoon. Putting it in the sick Libby, I ran it for about 1.5 hours, and set the correct date and time in the Control Panel icon. Then deciding to put it up out of the way for the next 48 hours to finish charging, I shut it down and got it set up in the new place. It was off for 5 to 6 minutes. Booting, there was NO message of "bad RTC" NO message of "bad CMOS checksum" When it got to the desktop, I checked the date and time, and it was still correct! Perhaps it won't need the new RTC battery after all. I'm feeling some hopeful relief about this machine right now :-) Thanks to Matt, David and Perry for all your help so far!
