Subject: RE: [LIB] disk drive for ff1100v

From: "Tom Wilmore" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Someone asked about a disk drive for an ss1000. I think they meant an ff1000. I have an ff1100v. It originally came with a 2.5 inch 8.45 mm 6GB drive, but now has a 2.5 inch 9.5 mm 20GB drive in it, a Toshiba MK2016GAP.

Runs fine.

I think the ff1000 will take the same size drive as the ff1100v. There may be a spacer or something that needs to be removed, like the L50, I don't know. It had the 20GB drive in it when I bought it.

Doing some searches, I get a lot more hits for ss1000 and 'ss 1000' Librettos than ff1000 of 'ff 1000' Librettos. And I get far more hits for ff1100 and 'ff 1000' Librettos than for ss1100 and 'ss 1100' Librettos. So it seems there was more than a little confusion there, and the models most likely are ss1000 and ff1100.

I'd give greater odds that the figure of 6.35mm for the 1000 on David's website is likely the correct one. But from the archives, David listed it in the subject line as if it came with both 6.35mm and 8.45mm HDDs:

That's a bit confusing.

A web search for ss1000 and 6.35mm comes up with a Toshiba Japan URL that shows a spec for 6.35mm:

http://www.toshiba.co.jp/about/press/1998_06/pr3001.htm

A web search for ss1000 and 8.45mm doesn't come up with anything relating the two.
