David, you might want to update your laptop contents (as well as site info) :) 
20 and 30 GB (single-platters, 7 mm in height) Hitachi C4K40 and C4K60 fit 
perfectly. You understand more Japanese than me, see here:

Not even considered. Probably comparable to hard drives in terms of speed, 
power consumption (modern drives are not hot at all, 1-2 Watts), number of 
read-write cycles (not sure), but still way tooooooooo expensive.
