As far as I'm concerned, as long as CMake can't be used to generate VS 
project files without having the target version of VS installed on the 
machine, it'll be pretty limited because it leaves us unable to generate 
source tarballs that can catter for all VS users out there, which is 
(more or less) what we provide right now.

Requiring everybody on VS to install CMake so that they can get the 
project files to compile libusbx does not sound like that great an 
option. I also don't think CMake supports WDK builds, whereas we do.
