@litghost I don't have VS2012 installed, I guess I could try looking for it and 
giving it a try. I've been using mingw most of the time, I'm way more familiar 
with GCC. Problem that I see is that in we are forcing to use some ANSI 
functions (that was the former case so I kept it), and not bothering about 
unicode ones. My guess here is that either before or after adding hotplug 
support all code should be normalized to either let the compiler decide or 
force using ANSI. But that's up to the core developers to decide not me.
