Comment #67 on issue 1698 by [email protected]: Slurs and ties are not correct
over repeats

I am not calling anything 2.18 unless it will either
a) have a well-documented straightforward manual interface that can be left
in place in future without further change, whether or not additional
automatisms are considered
b) have a coherent documented underlying theory for the automatisms that
users and developers can verify the implementation against and that can be
verified to match the actual requirements of the problem space
c) has seen enough exposure to users and their problem reports that it can
likely stay in this form for future versions as well
The additional settling period for the respective approaches will dial back
the next stable release deserving such a name 1 month, three months, and
nine months, respectively.
And that's not something that can actually be swayed by popular vote. It's
just a consequence of the nature of the respective changes. Of course you
can vote to consider this estimate wrong. But rendering it wrong entails a
lot more work than just voting on it.
