Lilyponds marketing-strategy is "It looks better than any other computergenerated notation" so people want to see this in the examples.
Whatever the examples are, artifical, public domain or latest hollywood soundtrack, the way these examples get meaning is to show them between Finale, Sibelius, Capella, NtEd, Noteedit and Canorus screenshots to show that they look better.
