Ok folks. Maybe an IBAN on a public list is not the smartest idea,

AFAIK, the best way to transfer money world-wide is using PayPal; this
should work from almost everywhere, avoiding any unreasonable amounts
of bank fees.

Sorry Werner, I don't do business with unregulated banks, and last I knew that was PayPal. Anything goes wrong, and it's a nightmare to put right. (Plus, what do they charge for money-changing? Are they free?)

And Luca, come on! Just because your banking system is backwards it doesn't mean ours is.

Just because Clarkson was stupid enough to publish the details of a CHEQUE account, doesn't mean the same rules apply to SAVINGS accounts.

If I published my IBAN and you managed to get money out of it, one phone call to my bank and the money would be back in my account five minutes later. That's why I deal with regulated banks - a complaint to the regulator would be an open-and-shut win for me, and very BIG slap on the wrist for the bank - or worse.

I don't know the German system, which is why I asked if David had the same thing available to him.

Cheers,
Wol
