I'm a bit surprised because I *did* write this but now I don't see it on the wiki page. Well, I will look at it again tomorrow. The solution is to create a wrapper script In your path (e.g. ~/bin/frescobaldi) that takes care of the python path. The desktop file points to the wrapper script.
