New lilypond user here. What is the current situation in 2025 related to add-on fonts for lilypond? I see that there was once a bunch of fonts made by Abraham, and I think I have downloaded those (Haydn, cadence, etc.). Then it appears that he was planning to release Arnold and some others commercially…but I don’t know if that ever happened as his MTF site is no longer around.
I actually did purchase his fonts from MTF that were release as SMuFL format a year or two ago, but since then his site went offline and now Dan has updated them in some way and they are being sold through another party..which I do not wish to pay for since I have the original ones I purchased from MTF…but in any case…are those usable in Lilypond? Does lilypond officially support SMuFL now? Does that mean all SMuFL? I have others from NorFont I would love to use if they will work in lilypond, but will they? What about Bravura? Should I use the old one that was somehow converted to lilypond format..I think…or should I use th latest up to date SMuFL version of it? And what other fonts may work in lilypond? There is a lot of confusing information to me, I’m not really sure what I can or can’t do to use alternative music fonts in lilypond today.. other then the ones I got from GitHub that Abraham Lee made a long time ago and permitted them to remain free in the form.
