Of your two options, I think I prefer slur-as-tie-across-clefs.

But I think the best option might be a third one: a half note that crosses

I’m used to singing editions of Renaissance polyphony in which rhythms
stretch over bar lines, so for me this would be the best option. But I
cannot speak for pianists who aren’t also early-music singers.
