Amen-if we are to be a “welcoming community,”we must be open to a diverse range
of opinions and passions, both on our social media platforms and at Town
Meeting.
These are important forums for debate.
If debate is about policy, and not personal attacks, they should be open and
welcoming.
The more we monitor and truncate debate, we project the appearance (and perhaps
reality) of not being welcoming to anything not part of the majority
conversation and dominant narrative.
The minority voice may make some uncomfortable, but it is important to hear.

Let us truly model being a “welcoming community” and let minority opinions be
heard and respected!

Namaste,
Sara
