Both are currently located at the Hartwell complex. I don’t believe the one at the transfer station is Baystate textiles, but I am not sure.

My understanding is that the Red Cross bin is best for clothing in decent shape that can quickly be distributed to disaster victims and the like. The Bay State Textiles bin takes any kind of clean/dry textile -- clothing new and worn, shoes, towels, sheets, rags, etc. They repurpose them depending on the type and condition of the donation. More than 520 MILLION pounds of usable textiles - including clothing, footwear, towels, household linens and other fabric-based products - were sent to landfills in Massachusetts in the last year, of which 95 % can be reused or recycled. Bay State Textilesaccepts ALL textiles as long as they are clean and dry. This includes everything from stained clothing to stuffed animals to boots (all items must be in bags).
