Yes, you can do it with FileIO. A good place to start is in the 
FileIO docs themselves -- available on Macromedia's site. I think I 
might have some notes aobut it online too, in the "faq" area, 
probably under "lingo".

You won't need to worry about mass from your Xtras. They are very 
small indeed. It's the bitmaps, video and sound that'll knock you out.
