It really doesn't have much to do with the Media player, I think. You just 
need an Mpeg driver compatible with DirectMedia.

I used DirectMedia on a PIII 300 2-3 years ago, and it worked fine for both 
Mpeg 1 and Mpeg 2 video.

It's hard to compare Mpeg and Sorenson--there are more relevant issues. 
What is the frame rate? What size is the video (smaller will generally play 
better than big). Do you have a lot of key frames? What other processes are 
running?

I don't know what the "unknown error" might be--I'd need more information. 
You could check with the Tabuleiro tech support folks--they're real helpful.
