Use one computer and a Dual Head graphics card ..is my advice! Judging by the spec of the machines they should run happily 2 mpeg streams and any other stuff in 2 separate MIAWS, or a "split stage" ...all you need is a graphics card with 2 video outputs (nVidia Quadro or similar) so you can run a "horizontal span" monitor i.e. the desktop stretches on two monitors (that's the way I work) The rest is simple, one Miaw on monitor1 and the other on monitor2 ...and voila... The mouse will happily go to any monitor as well.
Unless you intend to run heavy duty 3D this would be my advice...I've run more than 10 mpegs simultaneously without any problems spanning across the monitors, adding some sprite action to that shouldn't affect things. Before I forget... Here is another trick but not tested, actually it caused a problem at the time (reverse situation from what you need:) 1. what you do is buy two cordless mice (Microsoft's are pretty good...maybe even consider the Bluetooth one) 2. plug the receivers in both computers 3. turn only ONE mouse on 4. pair that mouse with both receivers 5. with a bit of luck you will be moving the cursor and clicking on both machines I will test this theory bit later (only one cordless mouse in the office right now:) and I'll let you know Pedja -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mike Cash Sent: 18 August 2004 02:25 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: <lingo-l> Lingo to control two computers simultaneously??? All, I have a HUGE project that requires two computers to be controlled at the exact same time (specs below). In short, each computer will run a separate presentation. When the presenter is ready to continue he/she hits the button (presentation switch/mouse/some kind of I/O device) and both computers must change at the same time. The total presentation will consist of 6 hrs. of mpeg2 and multiple film loops (per computer). I've already worked out the mpeg2 playback and the non-stop motion backgrounds (filmloops), the biggest problem I'm running into is how to control both computers at the same time. Initial thought was one USB (switch i.e. mouse) fed into each computer. I was informed that USB wouldn't work that way and there are no USB splitters that are made to be used that way. What I'm stuck on now is an Infrared Presentation Switch...two of the same model using a receiver at each computer and only one of the switches. My question is, is there a way to do this via Lingo instead (i.e. one presentation switch controlling one computer and Lingo feeding a command to the second computer via Ethernet/USB or something)? Specs: Computers: 3.0 Ghz Processor / 2Gb ram / WinXP Pro Software: DirMX Any and all ideas are extremely welcome.
