my word. this sounds like the days of programming using Commodore 64 BASIC!

FWIW - for all practical purposes Velocity is the intensity with which a
note is struck. not all keyboards or devices respond to MIDI Velocity.
depending on the synthesized "patch" being played, Velocity can simply
increase the volume of the note, or can trigger other interesting sound
changes. a change of timbure for instance.
