do the following:

1) create a batch file that restarts the machine

2) put a line in the "run" section in the Registry to restart your
program.

here in Win 2k:

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

works like a charm... <grin>
