Extreme Market Capitalism does seem to be well past its "Best before" date. The foundations of its decline probably lie in the unavoidable fact that unlimited growth is only sustainable in an unlimited environment.

Conservatives in particular seem intent on repeating old behaviours. If Market Capitalist dogma says it will work, then they'll keep it up until it works.
