Okay... How does one do this for a 'from scratch' system, with the install
media as supplied by the vendor for an evaluation...... This is the loaded
from HMC cdrom drive ram disk install system.
I also got a CD of maintenance with this but I have no idea how to build a
workable install image CD for Linux 390 and I cannot load from FTP as our
HMC is not attatched to our internal network. This was for an evaluation of
SuSE vs RedHat so we could actually pick a flavor and go. We have no
support as yet... as we're trying to compare.

The original SLES7 kernel had a bug that caused the dasdfmt hang on large
devices. You need to update the kernel. If you have a support contract with
SuSE you should be able to get a new k_deflt.rpm from them. Otherwise
you'll
need to apply the 2.4.7 patches on Developerworks to your source and build
your own kernel.
