Hi People
Has anyone done a LPAR install on zSeries and then migrated to a zVM
infrastructure ?, any ideas on this ?.
I would look at the LPAR install just so that we get a head start on the
project , the zVM is part of the IBM bundle that will come a little later in
the project.
Assuming you can get the DASD used for the Linux LPAR on the new z/VM
system, it would be fairly trivial to make a virtual machine that looks
very much like the LPAR you have now. The Linux system should then run
in the virtual machine like it did in your LPAR The network
configuration may need some planning ahead depending on where you come
from and where you go to. If the z/VM is on the same machine as your
Linux LPAR was, then you could simply pick up a device on the same
shared OSA port.
When you proceed you could either dismantle this Linux server and move
applications and data to other virtual machines, or make changes to
exploit things in VM.
