The many problems associated with having multiple interfaces and hence ip addresses associated with a given host can be overcome by the use of a VIPA (and Source VIPA).
If all IP packets between client and server always have the same DEST and SRC IP addresses then both will be happy regardless of the route traversed by the actual IP packets themselves. This also allows you to implement more High Availability scenarios by using multiple routes and dynamic routing (Zebra/Quagga). The though of putting *all* IP addresses into the DNS sounds way too much like overkill, make the computers do the work ;-) Climb down from soap box.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
