While Peter's terminology may be a bit off, I think you've missed the source of the problem. As I read this, you can forget that he ever said the word LPAR. Substitute "new virtual machine" for "new LPAR" and then re-read the original post.
He shows both the 3270 output AND his SSH putty output. When he types yast in putty, he gets "umount: /var/adm/mount: not mounted". Has nothing to do with networking; he's ssh'ed into his image. Has nothing to do with 3270; he has just shown the output of both terminals. I don't have a solution, but I think I did a bit better at reading the problem than you have... -- Robert P. OK. Then, yeah, just ssh to it. Should be fine. Eventually you're going to want to give the OSAs to VM and run VSWITCH, but if you only have a few Linux guests that can wait.
