I'd say that your best bet (and speediest method to get up and running) would be to just install Linux again on the second LPAR, and do the same customizations you did on the first one. Cloning takes some additional planning and setup before you'd be able to successfully pull it off, especially without the aid of zVM virtualizing the hardware addresses.
Most certainly. If you're only talking about just a few systems it is probably not worth to have all the trouble associated with "cloning" systems etc. Depending on your configuration it may make sense to use the working Linux server to format the disks that you plan to use for the 2nd install, and maybe prepare a pack with the bootstrap files (to avoid the IPL from DVD or even tape). If you want to share data between the Linux systems you probably would be better off using NFS rather than playing around with shared DASD. And if you plan to use your z/OS test LPAR to run Linux rather than z/OS, be aware that your Linux system would have access to all the (production) DASD that your test z/OS could access. A single typo may be enough to wipe out some MVS data (this is often not helpful in getting management backing for your Linux project).
