If you load the vmcp module (as root, run 'modprobe vmcp' without quotes), you can issue CP commands via Linux shell. So, load vmcp and try: 'vmcp indicate load' and 'vmcp indicate user' (as before, without quotes).
They will show a lot of messages, so take a look on the line saying something like this (is my outuput): PAGING-0/SEC STEAL-000% If paging is too high, it explains the unresponsiveness of your system.
