Actually, the "cp ipl xxxx parm ..." command working on our z10 may be due more to downlevel z/VM 5.3 on the particular z9 I tried (rather than a z10 vs z9 issue). Check the chapter on "Booting Linux" in the "Device Drivers, Features, and Commands" manual for more info on the exact levels needed.
