I tried to test Scott's procedure and it appeared to work until I rebooted. Since the old DASD volume is not really out of commission, it is still available and is still used by LVM instead of the new volume. Please refer to the following display

I also ran "mkinitrd" and "zipl" hoping to prevent the old device from coming online during the IPL. Any suggestions on how to prevent the old DASD volume from coming online? You just want to make sure those addresses are available and brought online by Linux when it comes up (and that you have no devices online that have duplicate uuid/lvm info on them!)
