We just haven't tested it very well. So to be a supported config., we say put an SVC in the middle. SVC has been tested very well with DS4000s and DS5000s by some other people in IBM. We've tested SVC very well with our FCP channel firmware. DS4000s, DS5000s, and SVC can never be used if the chpid type=fc (ficon).
