As long as you're using normal LVM, there is no need to change your layout.

When using it as a *filesystem* the backing store has no impact.

If you're thinking of using multiple physical volumes, you have the same
question(s) with LVM: how many and how big?

Looks fine, Mark.
Isolating root (or at least /boot) is a great idea.

Any one of the above could be a BTRFS (as an FS, not vol mangler)
candidate.

You might also consider TMPFS for /tmp. It's much faster if you don't
need huge /tmp capacity or persistence.
