I've tried another thing - as I'm also using RTL I've build module which
displays some letter in the upper line of screen.

Usually if the kernel is being locked in spinlock RTLinux still remains
running without problems.

However with this hda freeze the RTL also stops.

So I would assume that timers in Linux are no longer sending any IRQ.
