Pete,
I really have no idea what the hell your talking about and you probably
don't either. I am running the same software as you SuSE 7.1 professional.
I get NO crashes and everything in KDE2 works. Why not buy some better
hardware instead of the crap you seem to have inside your computer case.
I have really gotten tired of your imbicilic rants. Every time I see one of
your posts I have to hold back the chuckles. I see you have a problem with
something yet on my own computer system everything works just fine and we
are using the same software. Either that or your just the most unlucky
computer user I have ever seen.

If I remember correctly, when the Amiga OS was written it was done by a
programmer whose previous job was programming UNIX systems and consequently
built it around many similar concepts.
As the designers had never used IBM PC's, their minds were never polluted
with rubbish like MS-DOS and ISA cards hence the fully multi-tasking OS,
true auto-config expansion slots and fully integrated WIMP system.
The Amiga's main achilies heel was always the lack of MMU which resulted in
stability problems but considering the age it was built it was a milestone
in home computer development. Even by todays standards it could teach
Microsoft a thing or two.
I now use my old Amiga4000 to run Linux M68k and in many ways I prefer it to
Linux on a PC platform as the mouse doesn't jitter about amongst other
things!

But, when it comes down to it, when something needs to get done in the
world, only the Americans can seem to get it done.

Actually, I don't think that'll work at all, rpm -U requires
package names, not package filenames. One can do something silly
like

rpm -U `ls *.rpm | sed 's,\.rpm$,,'`

of course. (Disclaimer: I haven't tested this.)
