Yup.
When I first learned about Indrema I didn't know how they could possibly
pull it off. I read the specs. and was quite underwhelmed.
Linux needs a gaming API (the same idea as DX in Windows) to lure games
developers.
DirectX 8.0 has *SOFTWARE* support for fully programmable vertex/pixel
shaders... and it has absolutely surprising performance. Don't believe me?
Download the DX8 SDK (free) and check out some of the killer demos.
Linux has to do with OpenGL (not bad in its own right) - but Linux needs a
*standard* for sound, music, input devices, net code, etc... DX has all of
this and more. Makes it VERY easy to get into game development.
Anyway, about Indrema...
I doubt they ever had a chance given that investors would need to see that
the company had deep enough pockets to compete with at least Sony.
Linux is a good OS, but not very handy for games developers... yet. If
ever.

Well, most windows users would probably think "using ping to get the
translation" makes perfect sense, when in reality that is one of
the more idiotic things I've heard in a while. Most users rarely
need to use nslookup, you're right there. Specially windows users.
But if you need to communicate with a DNS server, query its database,
lookup up DNS MX entries, connected with arbitrary DNS servers on
the net, etc. etc. etc....then nslookup is it. Name one other
app on Windows that will let you do this.
