I'm assuming since it's their OS, they can leave that part out of the
Chinese version, or make it easily hackable.  Or not.  Leaving it in
would be a great boon to Linux, at least the Chinese versions, but I'm
not convinced that Microsoft would deliberately hose its own presence in
that market.  Time will tell.

They serve their purpose.

Who cares if they are *marketed* as off-road vehicles...it's the same
config that the on-road-only vehicles of the 1920's...

It's kind of a "come around full circle" sort of thing.

No....people like the increased visability of the higher cab, and the
fact that it feels more.....graceful...getting in and out of them.

And if you have kids....having the high floorboards and high seating
is REALLY convenient...the kid's seat-belts are at about chest-level
for an adult standin on the ground outside.

conveneince...it's all about convenience.

The off-road styling and marketing is just to get around the DOT's

a) I find it faster and better then Windows
b) I have a stack of software that won't run under Windows that I want to 
continue using
c) I don't like resetting constantly
d) For any home user the cost of three copes of Windows, a decent network 
firewall program, SQL server, some kind of Server Side Scriptling language, 
Exchange, etc is just outragous. Its not about being poor. Its about 
Microsoft have a huge total cost of ownership. Linux on the otherhand I pay 
Ģ10 for half a dozed CDs with all the software I want on them.
