I think the answer may be more apps for Linux as far as consumer appeal. It
doesn't seem to me that the ave consumer cares much about the OS itself and
would not want to deal with it as far as administrating, etc . . ., but
would want a quality OS that doesn't crash their favorite apps

I have only a small understanding of cryptography, but I don't think
this is correct. For one thing, it is difficult to come up with a
sequence of steps that produces a unique result. In the general case
there are many other methods that would produce the same result and the
analyst only needs to find one. Having only a 4-bit key will make this
a lot easier.

But even if you are correct, it is a very bad idea to depend on a
secret algorithm for security. If the algorithm is ever compromised,
all communications using that algorithm will be trivial to solve by
brute force. When that happens (and you have to assume that it will,
eventually) you have to come up with a whole new scheme rather than
merely a new key.

Good. Use Windows, same as I do. Sadly, there are no good videogames
running decently on Linux, and thanks to the joint powers of the two
greatest mafia organizations in the world (no, not the Yakuza and the
Triads, but Micro$oft and the MPAA) no decent DVD players.

If you're stupid enough to run critical apps on Windows, fine. Do it. If
you're not with my company, you're competition, and I for one won't
complain if you shoot yourself in both feet.

What I slightly resent is the fact that His Billness and his acolytes use
methods that would shame an Italian politician to take *away* from me the
possibility not to use an alternative.

Is your braincell able to cope with the concept, or was it addled by
staring for too long to BSODs?

Eugenio

If your claim were true, then most bars, at the end of the night,
would be the majority of men who failed to snag a women to hook
up with each other and go home.

Since this doesn't happen, it indicates that the men are NOT
"bisexual, with a preference for [females]" but, in fact, find
the thought of engaging in sex with another man to be repulsive.

Did you not see my post where I pointed out that Lyx *does not* need
 a filename ?
