Package management is solid as a ROCK in Debian. No matter what you do, what
the package is, what condition the package is in (ie. corrupt), what the hell
you can think (power fail during inst, etc...), there is no way to mess it up.

It is really bullet proof....

You can even convert rpms to debs and install without any problem.

The guys who work for Debian do a great job.
