Do NOT use the same kernel. Blob _needs_ CONFIG_ANGELBOOT _disabled_.

I don't remember exactly what the LEDs should do. Looking at the code
my guess is that one of them should blink at a 1 or 2 Hz rate, and the
other one should only turn on when the kernel is not in idle mode.

It should.

No. Unless there is something wrong with your blob version:

- You're using a blob version prior to blob-1.0.7 which is known to
  pass incorrect architecture numbers to the kernel. Use
  blob-1.0.8pre2.
- You didn't compile blob with Assabet support. Use the
  --with-board=assabet flag when configuring blob.
