Title: RE: Neponset Noisy Recording

Hi James,

We had the same problem.  I is an hardware problem, du to the Neponset design. We succeeded in reducing the noise level by modifying the Neponset power supplied to the UDA1341 (3.3V) and the mike pre-amp (5V) section.  The Assabet design gave the UDA1341 CODEC its own 3.3V regulator but no pre-amp while the Neponset CODEC takes it power of the board power supply. And that power is very dirty.  So we have install a 3.3V regulator to service the CODEC only and bypass the pre-amp section to hook directly, the CODEC entries, like on Assabet.  The noise level was reduce considerably.  As for the mixer,  we've made a small app to be able to change the setting.

Hope that help

I'm trying to record .wav files using sox via Neponset board but I'm
getting alot of this thumbing/hissing background...Is there a solution
workaround for this?  Also, is there a linux utility to change the mixer
      settings?  Thanks in advance.

      I'm running 2.4.3-rk2-np1
