We also faced the same problem. We noted that the hiss is dependent on the
frontlight, so if u dim frontlight there is less hiss. 
Also, we get a periodic impulsive noise. It seems to have the same
frequency as D8( or D9, Im not sure) and hence we think this is because of
the current drawn by the processor, but that is our theory ofcouse with no
factual backing. 

The utility to change mixer is mix. It is available in all the standard
ramdisks I guess.

Reducing Line1 and Line2 also helps in reducing the hiss.
