 I've tried this but insmod complains that the module isn't in ELF format.
I'm using a 2.0.36 kernel, with ELF support. It's a straight-off-the-ftpsite
setup except for the installation of a fair number of the fluff rpms (all the
libraries, compiling, most of 'base' that didn't complain excessively and
some others).

 Also, the fluff rpm-3.0-6.0.armv3l.rpm seems to be dodgy on my system. The
libc4 rpm-3.0-6.0.tar.gz works fine but if I install the ELF one then on
use it gives cpio errors complaining about chown (can't remember the exact
error, I'll find it if anyone can help).
