I've seen a lot of network cards over the past few years, but I must
say that I've never come across this one... it obviously isn't/wasn't
very popular. I assume that it's an older 10Mb ISA card, possibly a
combo with any of BNC/AUI/RJ45, possibly a Fast Ethernet I or II
model.

You should have the following 3com ethernet driver modules available
in your /lib/modules/2.2.13/net/ directory...

3c501.o 3c503.o 3c505.o 3c507.o 3c509.o 3c515.o 3c59x.o

Try insmod'ing and/or modprobe'ing them one at a time (especially the
3com50x drivers) to see if they work. (Use dmesg or "tail -f
/var/log/messages &" to check if you see no output).

Otherwise, try going off to Donald Becker's web site:

        http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/

Donald is one of the main linux ethernet driver development guys,
probably wrote most of them. The 508 is _not_ mentioned as being
unsupported, although after a quick perusal I couldn't find specific
mention of it.

Hang on, this looks like the driver you need (although still no
specific mention of the 3c508):

        http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/3c509.html

There are several options you can give the driver to do things like
set the transcever type, etc.

Cheers
Tony
