Can't make !!!

Hi

I've completed the installation of my router with a 486 dx266 running
pmfirewall + ADSL connection ......... works perfectly !

Here is my problem,
This is my first attempt to compile a program with "make" but it can't
find make .......... (?)

Is it possible that my RedHat 6.1 installation is not complete enough to
compile programs ?
How can I check that ?
If it ends up being the problem, which RPM packages should install in
order to compile programs ?
