You probably didn't need to change anything.  The ISP should still be
sending you what your IP is, only now it will be the same everytime. 
Also, even though your IP is static, the remote end may be dynamic. 
You don't always know the IP of the machine you will be connecting to. 
I say leave the 'dynamic' entry in there and let diald/pppd figure
things out.
