I've been struggling with diald for the past two weeks. I discovered my
error this morning thanks to all the scripts and config files you posted.
After I connect and login to my ISP, diald launches PPPD. For reasons I
cannot explain, when pppd starts up, it insists on using the default
control file and seems to ignore the pppd-options in my /etc/diald.conf
file. The pppd control file was configured to drive pppd without diald.
This caused pppd to spawn a new chat session with the modem, thereby
ignoring the existing ppp session already in progress.
I'm going to continue to research why pppd-options isn't working, but I
wanted to thank you for kick-starting me in the right direction.
Best regards,
Jim
