Whoa... I was with you until that point. I can't find any
mention of /etc/ppp/peers in the nondistributionized diald
or pppd (as of 2.3.5) archives. If distributions want to
package things their own way they can - if the license
allows it. But if they don't contribute their work back
then *they* get to support it, maintain it, and make it
work with new releases.
